Contribute your words to a powerful new light artwork projected inside Durham Cathedral.
Contemporary artist Nicola Anthony invites you to help shape The words that bind us — a luminous light artwork forming part of the Magna Carta and the North exhibition.
Your thoughts will become part of a flowing river of words projected inside the Cathedral, where visitors can walk through a ripple of text that continually reshapes itself: The luminous text will describe a vision for a fairer, more compassionate future, written collaboratively with the public.

This poetic imagining of a more positive society will reinterpret the spirit of the Magna Carta for the world today. Become part of this collective vision of a ‘Modern Charter’ by visiting the artist’s online portal.
You’ll be asked 10 short questions. Answer as many as you like — it takes just 10–20 minutes to reflect and contribute meaningfully.
Your words will become part of the final artwork, displayed from 11 July to 2 November in the historic heart of Durham Cathedral, UK.
